Intention Statement

During my time at Northeastern Junior College (NJC) I fell in love with education more than ever before. Integrating technology into the classroom in new and interesting ways gives me a rush like no other. I like to “break technology” by using them in ways they were not intended. There is a balance though of when it is appropriate to use technology; do not just use technology for the sake of using it.

Since NJC I have been trying to find the right Masters program for me. Part of it is the formality of the degree because this industry values the degree more than experience. I knew Educational Technology and Instructional Design were my callings but all schools separate them except for one…Full Sail University. At Full Sail I intend to expand my skills and knowledge within my industry. I also want to gain different perspectives on technology in education and through it all, develop a way to incorporate the concept of the Growth Mindset, outlines by Carol Dweck from Stanford University.

My biggest obstacle will be figuring out how to create a movement in the field of education, when it has unfortunately become antiquated and stubborn. Throughout my Mastery journey I intend on refining my craft and expanding my resources to help me accomplish these goals. It may be a daunting task but I truly believe that I am the one that can take it on and see success.
